Welcome This is just the outline

First pattern – parallel construction She has an incredibly satisfying life, satisfying because of her career and satisfying because of her family. - See how it repeats “satisfying” ? The first sentence adds the “subject” of the whole sentence as it continues by adding “reasons” to the sentence but using the same verb; satisfying.

Second pattern – same preposition in a series He has known for many years, before she went to college, before she was a star, before she won the Oscar. Obviously it repeats the verb “before” but what makes it more different from any other series is that it keeps the storyline “continuing”.

Third pattern – repeating same noun as the object ofdifferent preposition This government is of the people, by the people, and for the people. The subject : people is repeating to “emphasize” the subject, as well as standing it out from the sentence.

Fourth pattern – repeating the same modifying word in phrase that begin with different prepositions Sidney devoted his life to those selfish people, for their selfish cause, but clearly with his own selfish motives dominating his every action. Now you see that this “selfish” is acting like a decoration of the subject after – but you have the idea that the overall is “selfish”

Fifth pattern – same intensifiers The baseball game was very exciting, very enjoyable, but very long. You see here that the intensifier, which is basically putting some mood or extensive verb to create some motivation to the noun/adjective after.

Sixth pattern – repeat the same verb or alternative forms In order to survive in war, a person needs training, a person needs courage, and, most of all, a person needs luck. “a person” repeating in the phrase keeps a dramatic mood to the phrase because it kind of slows the phrase down.
