Federal Geodetic Control Subcommittee of the Federal Geographic Data Committee 4 Discussion of Work Group Charters and Action Plans Instruments: Scope of Work 1.Seek out sponsors for instrumentation loans 2.Develop Instrumentation testing procedures 3.Evaluate Instrumentation using standardized testing procedures 4.Deliver findings in the form of a report to the FGCS for review 5.Work with the Methodologies work group in development of guidelines.

Fixed Reference Stations: Activities 1.Federal, state, and local governmental agencies will be monitored to determine current and planned fixed GNSS station activities. 2.Procedures will be developed to assure all fixed sites operated by member agencies are tied to NSRS and provide NSRS positions. 3.Standards and specifications will be developed for fixed sites. 4.Common formats for data storage, distribution, and archiving will be developed and implemented through the National Geospatial Data Clearinghouse. 5.Studies will be undertaken to determine how to optimize a single CORS system including the National Differential Global Positioning Service (NDGPS) to meet a maximum number of Federal GNSS post-processing and real-time requirements.

Vertical Reference System: Activities 1.Collect information from users about their vertical reference system needs. 2.Consider and document the impact on users from changes in the vertical reference system. 3.Review existing vertical reference systems, including datum definition, data types, and estimates of precision and accuracy. 4.Develop improvements to strategies to incorporate modern technology information such as GPS into vertical reference systems. 5.Recommend the appropriate course of action for NGS and other Federal agencies to take with regard to vertical reference frames. 6.Document and report the findings of the Work Group to the Chairperson and Secretariat, FGCS, for distribution.
