4 Key Consideration - Safety “Safety of our students, faculty, and staff is our top priority at all times” Maintaining a safe and secure campus environment is critical –Evaluate trends and technology as they become available –Review enhancements to training and programs –Implement solutions consistent with safety and security vision

5 Partnerships are Crucial Telecommunications and Emergency Technologies: Provides the Capabilities Advanced emergency enterprise systems, operations, and technical expertise, which enhance the safety and security philosophies of the campus

6 Partnerships are Crucial (Cont.) 24/7 Communications Call Center: –Monitors campus-wide systems –Dispatches police, fire, IT, and facilities personnel

7 Partnerships are Crucial (Cont.) Early Sponsorship and Buy-In: –Top level administration –Student government Other Partners’ Engagement: –University Relations –IT Help Desk –Enterprise Computing and Infrastructure

8 Call Center Infrastructure Technological Foundation of Response: –Telephony (911, call and radio recording, etc.) –Card access including door alarms –Video surveillance –Centralized alarm response, e.g., fire and panic –Personal Safety and Security Assist Service

9 Assist Service History Safety Escort: –Began in early 1990s –Established to assist students with their safety –Still operational with addition of virtual assist Personal Safety and Security Assist Service: –Fall 2014 - started, 6 month implementation –Spring 2015 - campus pilot –Fall 2015 - full implementation

Interfaces with current NDSU technologies: –Single identification card system –Centralized electronic locks and card access –Customized alarm interface and alerts including dialer notification functionality –Centralized surveillance camera system –Alarming and reporting to 24/7 University Police Communications Call Center
