6 Additive Color Model The RGB model is called "additive" because a combination of the three pure colors red, green, and blue "adds up" to white light. The MEDIUM for this color model is Light.

7 The Subtractive Color Model AKA: CMYK Color, Process Color, 4-Color The CMYK model works by partially or entirely masking certain colors on the typically white background (that is, absorbing particular wavelengths of light). Such a model is called subtractive because inks “subtract” brightness from white.
