4. What is the difference between the ACT and SAT? SAT Test is over three sections; Critical Reading, Math and Writing Can earn a maximum of 800 points on each section Wrong answers are docked ¼ point (penalty for guessing) Tests more vocabulary than ACT Not entirely multiple choice Considered more of a reasoning test than a content based test ACT Test is over 5 sections; English, Reading, Math, Science and optional writing Can earn a maximum score of 36 No penalty for wrong answers (guessing OK) Tests on English grammar whereas SAT does not Multiple choice (except writing) Content driven test of achievement
