Humans began living in Australia an estimated 42,000 to 45,000 years ago. These people may have emigrated from short over sea distances. Such as South-East Asia.
The first recorded European sighting of the Australian main land was made by a Dutch navigator named Willem Janszoon. He sighted the coast of Cape York Peninsula in early 1606 and landed there on the 26th of February.
