1 College and Career Readiness Initiative OBJECTIVE To improve the college and career readiness rate of high school students and reduce the percent needing postsecondary remediation in reading, writing and mathematics after graduation.

4 Postsecondary Readiness Assessments Will be administered to all students before beginning the 12th grade who:Will be administered to all students before beginning the 12th grade who: –Indicate an interest in pursuing a postsecondary education –Score a level 2 or 3 on the reading portion of the grade 10 FCAT –Score a level 2, 3 or level 4 on the mathematics portion of the grade 10 FCAT

5 Responsibilities High School:High School: –Identify students to be tested –Provide a location for administration of the test Florida College:Florida College: –Administer and score the exam –Provide the results to the contact person at each high school

6 Timeline 2008-09 School Year –College readiness assessment administered to students in the 11th grade 2009-2010 School Year –High schools offer remedial courses to 12th grade students 2010-2011 School Year –First year students receiving high school remedial courses may enroll in college
