Educator Access to the NCDPI Licensure Management and Application Online System Welcome ! 1

Introduction Effective immediately, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) has implemented a new Licensure Management and Application Online System that provides access for educators to view the status of their professional educator license. The new licensure system will also allow educators the autonomy to perform some activities that were previously performed by Licensure Specialists. All educators must register in the licensure system to access information or to make requests through the system. A permanent, personal email address will be requested in the registration process. The email address will serve as the primary means by which the educator transmits and receives communications about any updates or actions taken on his or her professional educator license. The educator should not use his or her work email address for the registration process. 2

Introduction Employees in positions requiring a NC teaching license will need to register a personal account in the Licensure Management and Application Online System. This system will allow the educator to make certain requests to NC DPI Licensure him/herself, as well as to access and print a copy of his/her license. The employee will also need to affiliate and maintain affiliation with the employing school district in the Licensure Management and Application Online System. (See slide 16.) If the employee is associated with and following a plan from the Regional Alternative Licensing Center (RALC), he or she must also affiliate with the RALC in the Licensure Management and Application Online System. (See slide 16.) 3

Introduction It is anticipated that the most frequent use of the licensure system for the majority of educators with a clear SP1 Initial or SP2 Continuing License will be to view and print an existing license. However, educators will also have the option to perform other activities within the licensure system to accomplish the following: Add a licensure area by program completion Add a licensure area by completing a test or 24 semester hours Add experience Add National Board Certification Clear an Alternative License Delete a licensure area Change name Request a copy of files/test scores Research experience Update contact information Update work authorization Verification of NC License 4

How to Register To register for an online licensure account access the direct link to the NCDPI Online Licensure System at https://vo.licensure.ncpublicschools.gov/ or the NCDPI Website at http://www.ncpublicschools.org/licensure/. https://vo.licensure.ncpublicschools.gov/http://www.ncpublicschools.org/licensure/ (Click on “NCDPI Online Licensure System”.) Select NCDPI Registration in the lower left of the screen to initiate the process. The educator must use a personal, private email address for this account, as this will be his or her login for continued access to his or her NC educator license regardless of employment status. After the first phase of registration, the employee will receive an automated email providing access to the second phase for completion of setting up the personal educator account. Once the educator has registered, UCPS and the Charlotte RALC will accept the request to affiliate. The employee must remain affiliated for the duration of his or her employment with UCPS. 5
