2. Occupation History  Aerospace machinists were first in demand in the 1920’s when airplanes were first mass produced  They primarily used hand tools and tolerances were big  Now the tolerances are very tight  CAD programs are often used along with CNC machines

3. Occupation Opportunities  There are many occupational opportunities for an aerospace machinist within 50 miles of my home  Some hiring companies include:  Senior Aerospace AMT  Esterline USA  LMI Aerospace  Boeing

4. Education Requirements  Machinists train in apprenticeship programs, informally on the job, and in vocational schools, community and technical colleges  Experience with machine tools is helpful  machinists should be mechanically inclined, have good problem-solving abilities, be able to work independently, and be able to do highly accurate work
