4 English English is set out in year by year expectations for Year 1 and Year 2. Year 3 and Year 4 expectations have been merged and as have those for Year 5 and Year 6. There are separate appendices for specific content to be covered in the areas of spelling and vocabulary, grammar and punctuation. Show these – copies on display

23 What can you do? Ensure your child practices spellings – rules! Ensure your child reads at least three times a week and records their reading Other homework Reading book, diary and spelling journal in school everyday Discuss your child’s learning with them – how are they getting on with their targets? Practice papers? Talk and spend time with your child Good sleep, food and drink – balance between work, rest and play See me/us if you have any questions or concerns
