1 Write a letter to a student who has been absent from class –Describe what consciousness is –Explain the four levels of consciousness –Example: Dear Suzy, –Today we learned about food preferences in different cultures. Sight and smell strongly influence the types of food we eat. Geography also plays a role. The main purpose of eating is to survive from day to day. Originally, societies ate what was available to them, which depended on their environment. Cultural traditions also affect us. We tend to eat the foods to which our parents introduced us. –I’m sorry you missed class today. We got to watch a video clip from a really cool show called “Bizarre Foods.” The host ate things like the beating heart of a snake and fried scorpions. –See you when you get back!

14 Meditation Goal –Method used to narrow consciousness so that the stresses of the outside world fade away

16 Meditation Result –Consciousness narrowed and become relaxed (suspends worry) –Lowers Blood Pressure and Heart Rate
