2 Taxonomy Is the science of classifying organisms. Our modern classification system was developed by a Swedish botanist Carolus Linnaeus. He developed a two word naming system of organisms called Binomial nomenclature.

3 Binomial nomenclature First name or Genus name is always capitalized. Second name or Species name is NOT capitalized. Both names are underlined.
