The process of setting goal, developing strategies, outlying task and schedule to accomplish the goal.  The act of deciding on how to do something (Cambridge advanced learner’s dictionary)  Webster’s International Dictionary (1981) defines planning as an act or process of making or carrying out plans.

why need to plan Planning is crucial for meeting your needs during each action step with your time, money, or other resources. It is much easier to adjust your plan to avoid or smoothen a coming crisis, rather than to deal with the crisis when it comes unexpected. Planning will help you to gather all the information, analyze your needs and goals and work with you through the development process to refine your plans.

Detail needs to be considered while planning lesson as of following: 1. Introduction How will you introduce the ideas and objectives of this lesson? How will you get students' attention and motivate them in order to hold their attention? How can you bind lesson objectives with student interests and past classroom activities? What will be expected of students?

. Lesson Development What is the focus of the lesson? How would you describe the flow of the lesson to another. What does the teacher do to facilitate learning and manage the various activities?

. Closure/Conclusion What will you use to draw the ideas together for students at the end? How will you provide feedback to students to correct their misunderstandings and reinforce their learning?

benefits of planning It intended to give you an overview of your curriculum at a glance. It can help you to stay on track each month in meeting the curriculum goals that you have set for the year. Communicate those goals and objectives to the organization’s constituents. Provide a base from which progress can be measured and establish a mechanism for informed change when needed.
