Sept: UCAS Session 2 – qualifications in apply 4. Sept –personal statement finalised 5. Internal deadlines 2 nd October – Oxbridge etc. 22 nd October – all others 6. UCAS deadlines 15 th October – Oxbridge, Medicine etc. 15 th January – most courses Parent Support Encourage Advise Liaise email me at he@barneyschool.org.uk Tutor – personal statement guidance HOD – subject specific advice – predicted grades – draft subject reference HSM – drafts school reference Unsure about your choices…Hold off submitting until closer to the 15 th January… this way you can amend your application Sure about your choices and want to secure a place on your preferred course… Apply early!

4 Key deadlines: Admissions testing booked in June 2015 – see Mrs Houghton Admissions tests taken in November UCAS deadline 15 th October 2015 Oxbridge, Medicine, Law and other courses requiring admissions testing – it is important you make your intentions clear as soon as possible…Year 11 is not too early. Admissions tests need to be practised.

5 MOOCs are extremely valuable courses which are produced by universities all over the world. Over the summer, choosing one or two of these courses to follow would be extremely valuable – they help develop learning beyond the curriculum. In the UK Future Learn coordinates UK university courses, in America it is Coursera and edX. Three courses are available to help students prepare for university through Future Learn: Preparing for uni How to succeed in writing applications How to succeed at interviews MOOCs – massive open online courses
