9 Historical Narrative Paper A narrative essay is an essay that tells a story. That covers quite a bit of ground, but for this assignment you will be writing a formal narrative essay based on an event in our nation’s history that you believe has often been misrepresented. You will be working to tell the story accurately, dispelling common misconceptions in the process. Don’t let the word “story” fool you: this is still a nonfiction essay.
