Safety Rules Always follow instructions. Do not improvise or try new experiments

Safety Rules Wear goggles when instructed to do so

Safety Rules Do not wear loose clothing or dangling jewellery Long hair must be tied back

Safety Rules All labs are done at the lab benches with everyone standing on the outside of the benches

Safety Rules Report all accidents or spills to the teacher at once, no matter how minor it is Report broken or defective equipment to the teacher Report broken glassware to the teacher, do not clean it up yourself

Safety Rules Never taste anything or even place objects in your mouth while doing experiments No eating or drinking in the science lab

Safety Rules DO NOT touch, taste or smell an unknown substance

Safety Rules Always clean up the lab after an experiment Always wash your hands after working with chemicals

Safety Rules DO NOT return excess chemicals to the stock containers DO NOT enter storeroom of prep rooms without permission

Safety Rules Absolutely NO HORSEPLAY of any kind in the science lab Do not throw objects of any kind in the science lab

Safety Rules Keep your workspace uncluttered, leave coats, bags and books at your desk

Safety Rules Know where the safety equipment is –Fire extinguisher –Fire blanket –Goggles –First aid equipment –Eye wash station –Broken glass disposal Never play with emergency equipment.

Safety Rules If you agree to these rules then sign your copy and add your signature to the class list. Experiments are fun to do but no one can be allowed to compromise the safety of another student. Inappropriate behaviour will result in a loss of this privilege.
