2 Anagram Meaning: A word or phrase made from another word or phrase by changing the letters Sentence/example: 1. The Eyes : They see The example above has had its letters rearranged to make new words.

3 Goad Meaning: A leash or whip for driving cattle. To urge someone to do something Synonym: Whip; urge Antonym: Discourage Sentence/example: The teacher goaded the students to write their essays and submit them on time; however, some students were still late in submitting it.

4 Noncommittal Meaning: Not committing; not revealing one’s purpose
Synonym: Discreet; unrevealing. Antonym: Revealing, Committed. Sentence/example: Even though people were expecting his speech to show his commitment to this position, the candidate’s speech was noncommittal.

5 Assertion Meaning: The act of declaring something; a positive claim.
Synonym: Declaration, announcement. Antonym: Denial, discreetness. Sentence/example: The principal’s assertion angered the students, for they were not pleased with this announcement.

6 Quixotic Meaning: Impractically idealistic. Synonym: Idealistic
Antonym: Realistic Sentence/example: A human growing wings and flying is a quixotic fantasy.

7 Coherent Meaning: Logically connected; clearly expressed
Synonym: Clear; connected; relevant. Antonym: incoherent, irrelevant Sentence/example: Students are supposed to write coherent essays that have connecting words or phrases that link the whole essay together.

8 Fulminate Meaning: To argue or talk violently and loudly; to protest or denounce. Synonym: Protest; rage; denounce Antonym: Support; praise Sentence/example: A disagreement caused two students to fulminate.

9 Proboscis Meaning: The long snout of an animal; a nose.
Synonym: Nose; trunk Antonym: None Sentence/example: An elephant’s trunk can be called a proboscis. Sentence: The child was surprised to see the elephant’s long proboscis.

10 Inexplicable Meaning: Impossible to explain or understand.
Synonym: Incomprehensible Antonym: Understandable Sentence/example: Some students think that advanced physics problems are inexplicable, while in reality, they are hard to understand, but not impossible.

11 Surmise Meaning: To guess or suppose; a guess based on little evidence. Synonym: guess; assumption Antonym: Certain Sentence/example: Based on the faint traces left, he surmised what had happened.
