2 Prof. M. M. Shah, TAC2 What we want to achieve …….. Our mission is : E ncourage Sections/Chapters to organise collaborative technical activities like workshops and seminars. T o encourage collaboration among various Sections for better regional cohesion. S upport Students Activities Chair in providing assistance to Technical activities like Workshops/Seminars organised by the Student members

Shah, TAC3 Technical Activities Report C all letter had been issued in the first week of February 2007 to Sections/ Chapters soliciting from them intentions/ proposals to arrange Colloquia in the year 2007 S o far two tentative proposals have been received, One from Calcutta Section (for Dec. 2008) and the second from Bombay Section (for Nov. 2007).

4 Prof. M. M. Shah, TAC4 Call letter ……. The IEEE Region 10 Technical Activities Committee is soliciting for proposals from councils, sections, and chapters which may be interested to host the IEEE Region 10 Colloquium in 2007 and 2008. The objective of the Colloquium is to bring international and local experts to speak on an emerging technology that will have strong economic impact to the region, the hosting country or the hosting city. This event was initiated in 2003. The first colloquium with the theme of Broadband Access - Technology and Market was hosted on 21 and 22 October 2004 in Singapore by the Communications Chapter and LEOs Chapters of Singapore Section, in cooperation with a few local organizations. 5 Prof. M. M. Shah, TAC5 Please note.. Apart from its advisory role, IEEE Region 10 could participate on a profit/loss-sharing basis with a maximum risk capital of US $ 3,000. If you are interested, please let us know before 15 th April 2007 Please write to : mmshah@ieee.org

6 Prof. M. M. Shah, TAC6 General guidelines ….. Colloquium speakers shall consist of a mixture of distinguished research scientists, engineers or professors within and outside the region. IEEE Region 10 shall support the budget for speakers’ travel expenses while the host shall bear all the other expenses. Registration fees can be charged to defray the cost and generate profit. A percentage of the profit, if any, should be returned to IEEE Region 10.

7 Prof. M. M. Shah, TAC7 Other activities … Assist in the organization of 5 th IEEE International Conference on Information and Comm. Technologies, Research, Innovation, and Vision for the Future (RIVF 2007), March 05-09, Hanoi, Vietnam – An event technically co-sponsored by IEEE Region 10.

Shah, TAC8 Background info on RIVF RIVF was an initiative among a group of Professors and Scientists in Computer Sciences and Applied Mathematics, mostly from France, Canada, Belgium, and Switzerland, and their PhD students originally from Vietnam, to create a forum to exchange research results among themselves and with research scientists from Vietnam.
