3. 3 Background Information on RIVF RIVF was an initiative among a group of Professors and Scientists in Computer Sciences and Applied Mathematics, mostly from France, Canada, Belgium, and Switzerland, and their PhD students originally from Vietnam, to create a forum to exchange research results among themselves and with research scientists from Vietnam. 4. 4 2.Call for Proposal for IEEE Region 10 Colloquia 2 nd Call for proposal sent on 8 April 2005 New deadline 30 June 2005 Only one proposal from Dr Shum Ping of Singapore was received 3-day Colloquia/conference in Information Communication Technology MIT faculty members will be key speakers No financial support is expected from IEEE R10 He was advised to revise the proposal, work through Singapore Section, and work with another Section. He withdrew his proposal subsequently. Malaysia Section (Nasir) is keen to organize one on Signal Processing in June 06 and Thailand Section (Tuptim) is keen to co- organize this event. 5. 5 Plan for 2006 and 2007 Provide support to RIVF 2007 Organise the IEEE R10 Colloquia Work closely with the local sections, councils and others to have more collaborative technical activities in the region, especially India, India and Vietnam.
