5 THE IDEA FOR THE SECOND YEAR Is NOT to give even deeper knowledge in the same specialisation. Is to increase the leadership abilities. Studies abroad and internship increases leadership abilities. Studies in another specialisation will broaden your competence and strengthen you as a leader.

6 DEGREE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ONE-YEAR MASTER DEGREES A Bachelor Degree Diploma in original + passport/personbevis. Only full courses can be part of the Degree. A module from an unfinished full course can not be part of the Degree. The degree can not contain extra courses. 8 STUDIES ABROAD AND INTERNSHIP Studies abroad only during the 3rd semester in the autumn. The more D-level Business you take during the 2nd semester the more completely elective courses you can take while abroad. Internship is a possible elective course during the 2nd or 4th semester. You have to arrange it yourself and it has to be approved by USBE.

9 Umeå university central agreements: - Mainly agreement in Oceania and North America -Announced autumn 2015 -Deadline for applying the 18th of November for the autumn of 2016/spring of 2017. -Possibility to mingle with students from our partner universities and Umeå students who have already been on exchange to our partner universities. 14th of October: Asia and Mexico 15th of October: USA and Canada 23rd of October: New Zeeland and Australia International Office answers questions about their agreements at the Info Center in Universum Monday and Wednesday 12.00 - 13.00 during the period 13th of October to 17th of November with the exception of the following dates: 10th, 11th, 16th and 17th of November. You need to find the equivalent of 30hp courses at D-level in Business for recognition of the 3rd semester. Electives can be any subject at any level. STUDY ABROAD

10 Internship in Business Administration Internship is a 15hp elective course on D-level. Duration 10 weeks Written report to be presented at a seminar afterwards No additional funding is granted for extra costs connected to the internship such as travelling costs etc. Swedish students with a student loan from CSN will of course continue to receive those payments during the internship course.

11 Internship in Business Administration Internship placements are not arranged by the USBE. Start contacting companies already now. All internship placements must be approved by the Internship Coordinator, Dan Frost: dan.frost@umu.sedan.frost@umu.se All students that even consider internship should apply for the internship course. They should apply even if they are not sure to find an internship. None will be admitted all will be admmited as reserves but if you find a company and it is approved you are guaranteed registration Always chose alternativ courses in case you find no company.

15 THESIS, MAIN OPPOSITION AND SIDEOPPOSITIONS 1.A Thesis must be written, printed, presented and defended at a public seminar. Thesis is normally written in pairs. 2.You must be the main opponent on someone elses public thesis seminar. 3.You must attend two thesis seminars and write a 4-5- page side opposition criticizing the thesis being defended. This is a good opportunity for you to watch a thesis writer defend his thesis and see a main opponent criticize a thesis. It is also a good opportunity to read a thesis and see what is expected of you. 16 Research Methodology in Business Administration 7,5hp (B-level, part-time) Recommended course for international students to prepare for a 1st year thesis work 15hp in the spring Recommended course for international students that plan to be abroad during their 3rd semester in order to be prepared for the final 2nd year thesis 30hp. If you think that you already have studied both quantative and qualitative research method contact us.

17 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY IN BUS.ADM. B69 7,5hp ( For international students with no previous experience of writing a Swedish thesis) Starts in January. Application code UMU-24418 Part-time 7,5hp for 10 weeks. Guaranteed seat for international students In the course you will have an opportunity to: -learn how a Swedish thesis should be written -find a partner to write your D-level thesis with. -do your two side-oppositions. -get advice when choosing a suitable subject for your thesis.
