Mr. Owens worked at an airport base and what he did there was that he controlled air traffic for the navy. It was known as aircraft control in Antarctica. He controlled the aircrafts from a tower on the right side of the slide. From there, he would make sure none of the aircrafts crashed into each other when they left or were arriving. (Sergio)

Which type of food did you have in the navy? They had good type of food, if you ask me. I’d say they were living in a restaurant. They had meat to keep them strong, but they also had to stay in shape. (Sergio)

His first days I didn’t really think he’d actually remember his first day that’s why I didn’t really want to ask the question. He tells you how his first day went. (Cesar)

What’s ROTC? My brother’s in ROTC, but he never actually explained it right to me so I had to ask the question. Also about the rankings, I wondered which type of rankings they are. (Cesar)

Did you feel honorable in the navy? Yeah I agree if you can put up with it for 21 years of course you can get somewhere (Sergio).

What’s Air Force? Since the oldest child in my family was going to join the Air Force I thought that I might look into it a little more. (Cesar)

Anything special you remember that happened in the navy? The air traffic control was the main thing that he had to work with. He was a teacher for air traffic control so he had to have known what he was doing. It’d be cool to go places, but it’d be scary to go behind enemy lines.

A Brief History This took place in 1979 near Israel. Iran captured the people in the embassy. We also find out that Ms. Garcia was born in 1976. I’m guessing they were prepared to fight.

Was there any combat? There wasn’t any combat. There is a story where he got near to combat. He’s telling us now.

Did you ever go back to school or work? He decided to get training for an air condition and refrigeration repairer. For that, he went to school and to work. Then he became a real-estate agent. Things didn’t work out, so he became a lighter.

Did you think you were in any danger? No, he didn’t because there was never any war in 1959.

Did you or your fellow fighters ever horse around? There were a lot. I want to get a tattoo, but minus the scab. They even had a shoe fight. That must’ve really hurt when the shoe broke through his scab.

Comparing the food he had as a child. He was unlucky as a child. As he grew up and joined the navy, he enjoyed the food much better.

Mr. Owens In 21 years of in the service he has never been to war, but he still played an important part for our country. He’s been a lot through his years and has went from lowest rank to high rank the information he has provided me with could help my two brothers (Cesar). I think I might even join the navy when I grow up. I especially like to learn combat so that way I don’t have to take anything from anybody. (Sergio)
