6 Demographics  Abingdon Elementary School : Student population of 530 students Pre-Kindergarten through Fifth grades. 45% of students meet the criteria for economically disadvantaged. Approximately 22% of the student population is identified as a student with a disability.

7 District and School Status Status according to the VDOE Report Card  Abingdon Elementary has obtained Accreditation Benchmarks in all subject areas for the last 2 years  AES Students in Proficiency Gap groups are achieving at Benchmarks for the 3Year average. However, there was a decline in performance of Gap Groups from Spring 2013 to 2014. Specifically, there has been a decline in Gap Group 1(SPED) and 2 (Black) in both English and Math. Data from 2015 has not been published on VDOE yet. Assumptions…  AES has a mature staff of experienced educators  Collaboration and collegiality among Special and General Ed. teachers could increase. This would most likely decrease the performance gap between Special Ed. And General Ed. Students and enhance teacher development  With newly revised tests being administered, teachers need development in teaching higher order thinking skills  Competency and exposure to changing technology among staff could increase
