Updated HD Series $350 - $500 HTML5 support, remote snapshot, 1080p60 single decode GOOD Updated XD Series $450 - $650 PoE+, faster graphics & HTML5 engine, 1080p60 dual decode BETTER BrightSign XD includes all HD features 4K Series $600 - $850 Unsurpassed power and HTML5 performance, mSATA, and True 4Kp60 & H.265 playback BEST! BrightSign 4K includes all XD & HD features All players are now networked! Powerful video engine means faster & better graphics support and better video quality 60p and better scaling Updated HD Series The features highlighted in green are new to the HD line of players The HD line no longer has an HD120 equivalent model that is non-networked Updated HD players are physically the same form factor as current HD players Updated HD adds an HTML5 engine that offers same functionality as the current XD line. Unlike XD, the updated HD line offers only single video decode of 1080p60. A new feature to all BrightSign HD, XD and 4K models is Remote Snapshot - you can view a snapshot of the presentation playing on the screen via the BrightSign App or BrightSign Network Updated XD Series: Updated XD players are physically the same form factor as current XD players XD1132 does not have a tuner, only HDMI input Additional capabilities from current XDs: PoE+ is type 2 and supports about 25 watts of power vs type 1 which supports 12 watts of power Faster HTML5 & graphics engines 4K Adds native 4K playback along with supporting all of BrightSign's features & capabilities What’s different from XD2 mSATA supported on all 4K models USB 3.0 supported HDMI IN on 4K1142 is HDMI 2.0! (XD’s HDMI In is HDMI 1.4)

5 New Feature Introduction
Continuing to deliver new features to future-proof your signage Hardware-accelerated Chromium HTML5 engine supporting playback of modular HTML5 assets layered with high-bandwidth HD video See a snapshot image of your running presentation using local networking and the BrightSign App, or via the BrightSign Network Gives additional performance to play robustly featured, interactive, full screen or modular HTML5 content layered with high-bandwidth 4K or Full HD video Use Power over Ethernet+ (Type 2) to power your XD & 4K players Supercharged HTML5 engine with full support for the WebGL language, plays complex HTML animations and transforms including gesture-based content Stellar quality H.265 support for both 4K and 1080p video, delivering half the file size and double the bandwidth and memory savings Low-profile interface supporting small (roughly the size of a business card) solid-state drives for content storage with transfer rates up to 3.0 Gb/s. HTML5 Remote Snapshot PoE+ Support on 4K & XD Explained 4K & XD PoE+ is type 2 which supports 25 watts of power (PoE type 1 supports 12 watts) BrightSign XD & 4K can be powered by Ethernet alone as long as they don’t exceed 25 watts of power which is when 4K is running a standard presentation, an HDMI cable and 1 or 2 other outputs at most. If BrightSign 4K players are powering more than 2 outputs and a resource intensive presentation, they could require up to 60 watts of power and similarly BrightSign XD could require up to 36W If the 4K or XD player is being powered by PoE+, approximately 1A is available for all other connectors mSATA Details Don’t need an SD card when using mSATA drive Use case: Retail in-store kiosk offering access to a full catalog of thousands of products on a "more info" or "search" type display – the data & results will appear practically instantaneously if it's all stored on the local mSATA drive. Faster HTML5 Power over Ethernet+ Fastest HTML5 H.265 Mini-SATA Interface

11 4K Playback – standards Optimal playback of native 4K content on a 4K/UHD display New 4K Standards True 4K: 3840x fps frame rate H.265 HEVC (high efficiency video coding): enables delivery of high-quality 4K content at about the same file size and data rate as HD content at H.264 HDMI 2.0: only the new HDMI 2.0 standard supports 60 fps playback

12 compression standards
The evolution of compression technology JPEG – still image compression MPEG-2 – first major video compression standard MPEG-4, H.264, AVC (Advanced Video Coding) H.265, HEVC (High-efficiency Video Coding)

13 H.265/HEVC – the new standard
The importance of proper video compression Smaller File Advanced compression efficiencies from larger block sizes Up to 50% efficiency gain in coding translates to lower bitrates Better Picture Quality Increased intra prediction modes and higher encoding computation allows for soft blur effect rather than macro-blocking

14 H.265 Compression Solutions
Various encoding solutions are becoming available FFmpeg – a free command line tool to convert multimedia files between formats MainConcept – SDK, application and plug-in solutions VideoLAN – a free software library and application solution Avid – a very high-end solution Elemental – for broadcast streaming content V.265 from Vanguard Video – software-based encoder and decoder SDK Note: H.265 is not limited to 4K content (i.e.: HD content, Netflix, other streaming video) H.265 can be used for HD content to create much smaller file sizes equivalent in quality to H.264 Netflix: they are the first company offering 4K content commercially. The video streams are H.265 and they're not charging more for 4K video content because they're now paying less to deliver data overall by using H.265 for not only the 4K content but also the HD content. Netflix is using Vanguard and they built a full ecosystem to use that codec.
