DTA Superior Transit Route Service Analysis Holly Butcher & Robert Herling June 2007

Background DTA provides transit services for Superior which are renewed on an annual contractual basis. Routes are long & at times difficult to effectively serve.

Project Objective DTA would like to analyze Superior service to see if there is a more efficient way to serve customers & save costs.

Route 16 Service to: North End, UWS, WITC, Mariner Mall & Itasca.

Route 17 Service to: South Superior, Billings Park, Fairgrounds, & K-Mart. Direct service to Wal- Mart & Target during mid-day hours on weekdays & all day Saturdays & Sundays.

Status of Analysis On-Off ridership counts conducted in February 07’ Rider & DTA Superior Driver surveys administered in April 07’ MIC staff entered & analyzed survey data April-May ‘07 Schedule a meeting with DTA Staff to review findings

Issues & Suggestions from Superior DTA Drivers Connection timing problems at 14 th & Tower between Routes 16 & 17 Timing is too close Timing is too close Various suggestions for altering stops & routes to improve service

On/Off Counts Counters were placed on buses in early February (Weekday & Weekend) The data can be studied in terms of location & time of day. May lead to adjusting the frequency of runs vs. the altering of routes.
