1._____reason for the seasons (seasons) 2._____air mass that would blow into Georgia from the southeast (air mass) 3._____curving of wind due to Earth’s rotation (wind) 4._____temperature at which condensation occurs (humidity) 5._____type of pressure that is made of cold air, more dense, and sinks (wind) RAP

Key Questions 1.What is a front? 2.What is a cold front? 3.What is a warm front? 4.What is stationary front? 5.What is an occluded front?

Fronts 1.Front-the boundary that forms between two different air masses

Four different types of Fronts 2. Cold Front a cold air mass pushes the warm air mass up produce thunderstorms, heavy rain or snow followed by cold fair weather.

Cold Front

Four different types of Fronts 3. Warm front The warm air mass gradually replaces the cold air mass. produce drizzly precipitation followed by warm fair weather

Warm Front

Cold/Warm Front Animation http://www.classzone.com/books/earth_sci ence/terc/content/visualizations/es2002/es 2002page01.cfm?chapter_no=visualizatio nhttp://www.classzone.com/books/earth_sci ence/terc/content/visualizations/es2002/es 2002page01.cfm?chapter_no=visualizatio n

Four different types of Fronts 4. Stationary front. A cold air mass meets a warm air mass and little horizontal movement occurs. Produces drizzly rain for days followed by warm weather

Stationary Front

Four different types of Fronts 5. Occluded front. A faster moving cold air mass overtakes a slower moving warm air mass and forces the warm air up. The cold air mass then continues advancing until it meets a cold air mass that is warmer. The cold air mass then forces this air mass to rise. Produces large amount of precipitation and cool temperatures

Occluded Front
