3. METRIC PAPER SIZE Paper size for correspondence in the United States is typically 8.5 by 11 inches. Correspondence in most foreign countries is often formatted on metric-sized paper. The most popular of these is called A4 paper. 3

5. INTERNATIONAL ADDRESS IN LETTERS it’s becoming more common with the increased popularity of the internet and frequently requires changes to the address lines. The most technologically efficient formats for international addresses will be used, including the use of all-caps and the name of the country spelled out as the last entry of the address. 5

A Hyphen is used after the 3-digit area code and after the first 3 digits of the telephone number, e.g. 701-555-1234 Another format used in other countries, is to replace the hyphens with periods without spaces, e.g. 701.555.4832 11

12. INTERNATIONAL TELEPHONE ACCESS CODES 12 Special access are needed to make a phone call from one country to another. To make an international call: 1. Dial the IDD (international Direct Dialing) code first. 2. Then dial the country code for the country you are calling. 3. Next the area code (if any). 4. And finally the telephone number. Example: +1 -323-555-8923
