2 SUMMARY OF SCHOOL HISTORY In 2007, established as an “Employment Training Center” under Social Protection Program; In 2008, re-organized as a “Vocational Training & Production Center” under investment by World Vision International, MECS and Gobisumber Governor Office; In 2010, became as a “Mining Excellency School” under TVET projects of MCA-M and Oyu Tolgoi project In 2012, advanced as a “Mining Excellency School-Polytechnic College”; 2

6 MCA-MONGOLIA: TVET PROJECT ACTIVITIES AND OUTCOMES 1.Intensive Technical English Training = 70,500 USD; 2.8 basic technical laboratories with 900 sq.m = 677,663 USD; 3.The latest equipment for 8 basic technical laboratories, including mining heavy machine operators, hydraulics/pneumatics, mechanics, electrics/electronics, mechatronics, welding & diesel engines = 1,752,638 USD; 4.Apprenticeship training of 6 technical trainers at Wagner Asia Equipment LLC for 1,8 months = 180,000 USD; 6

It includes: -Start up of selection and introduction of 14 trades competency units at the college; -Proposals to update vocational qualification names, indexes along international standards and to include them into national occupational classifications; 36

40 POSSIBLE FUTURE PROJECTS: To provide sustainability of the project activities: Undertake intensive English language skills to move current staff from conversational English to Technical English. This will allow trainers to comprehend the international training manuals to deliver to International Standards; Undertake exchange with CQIT in Australia to provide the college trainers with a induction to CBT. This would include both observation, team teaching and individual delivery of Australian competencies in block training (5 teachers+1 training manager X 6 weeks) 40

41 POSSIBLE FUTURE PROJECTS: Comfortable school bus for 50 students for field training; Mini off-set printing machine for printing CBT logbooks and training packages for students; Mobile training vehicle with full furnishment of heavy machine maintenance and repair tools & supplies; The vehicle will also be used to conduct independent evaluation of skills existing workers at mine sites and to accredit their qualifications; 41

42 SCHOOL OPPORTUNITIES: To become field training school of inter- mining vocational schools based on Shivee-Ovoo coal mine; To provide mining vocational schools with methodological management; To publish and distribute on-line and multimedia training resource materials; 42
