VISION: Global development and application of imaging and geospatial information improves decision-making, sustains communities, and enhances quality of life. MISSION: To promote and advocate imaging and geospatial science for informed, scientifically valid, and technologically sound observations of Earth conditions and trends that lead to improved and effective decision-making.

Adoption and practice of the scientific method advances imaging and geospatial science and technology. Development and dissemination of guidelines and standards facilitates accessible and reliable use of imaging and geospatial information. Development of new imaging sensors and platforms improves applications by practitioners. Expansion of a diverse community of geospatially literate students and professionals sustains our community. Adherence to ethical standards strengthens student learning and professional practice. Advocacy of relevant imaging and geospatially-relevant policies promotes sustainable development and use of Earth resources.

What ASPRS accomplishes Awards Books Events Journal Relationship with ISPRS Certification Mentoring, learning, networking Standards and guidelines … and lots more! 11

ASPRS books 12

ASPRS journal Photogrammetric Engineering & Remote Sensing – Mainly peer- reviewed papers – Highlight papers and feature articles that need not be peer- reviewed 13

ASPRS certification Certified Photogrammetrist, Certified Mapping Scientist/Remote Sensing, Certified Mapping Scientist/GIS-LIS Photogrammetric Technologist, Remote Sensing Technologist, GIS/LIS Technologist Accredited by Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB) Employers like certification LIDAR certification in preparation UAS could be next! 14

ASPRS leadership in 3D mapping Examples of completed projects – LAS 1.4 – Best practices for collecting and processing airborne LIDAR for topographic products – Guidelines for the Procurement of Commercial Geospatial Mapping Products – LAS Domain Profiles – Topo-Bathy LIDAR Domain Profile – In Situ Calibration Guidelines 15

ASPRS leadership in 3D mapping Examples of ongoing projects – Best Practices for Geometric Accuracy of LIDAR – LIDAR density and spacing specification – Laser safety for airborne LIDAR – Mobile mapping best practices – ASPRS Accuracy Standards for Large Scale Mapping – Review of the FGDC Geographic Information Framework Data Content Std – Part 2: Digital Orthophotography – Oblique imagery specification 16

ASPRS leadership in 3D mapping Examples of ongoing projects (continued) – Glossary of UAS terms – Image quality guidelines – Guideline for the Procurement of Geospatial Products and Services – Manual of Remote Sensing, 4 th edition 17

22 Reno UAS Mapping Draft Hobby Flight Timeline for 2015 Turf Farm Operations Topics for Discussion of CAP Involvement

CAP Discussions Possible CAP Involvement Friday 9/25 Site Setup? Emergency Planning? Team Check In Process? Possible CAP Involvement During 9/26-9/27 Site Security/Safety Monitors at the Turf Farm? Team Escort and Check In Check out Process? Inspection and maintenance of control targets at the turf farm prior to each flight? Flight Area Safety Patrols? Clean up And Final Close Out of Operations? What Should ASPRS Present to the Cadets Prior to any Onsite Involvement Overview Presentations? Emergency Planning? UAS Mapping Presentations? Photogrammetry? What is ASPRS? Other? 23

Draft Information from BMSI, Not for Release What if this were TRUE? The ASPRS SAR MD is dedicated to continually providing the latest technology for first responders by leveraging our member community and the Nations generosity to enhance the CAP’s capability!

The Need is here When federal budgets are strained novel ways to raise awareness have shown up in the form of bumper stickers like this one… Today in near real time we witness the efforts of first responders across the Nation via streaming video, what they do for people in need is in deed amazing. But it could be better! The ASPRS SAR MD could be dedicated to continually providing the latest technology for the first responders by leveraging our member community and the Nations generosity to enhance the CAP’s first responder capability!
