4 Six Traits Writing 1.Ideas – The content or main theme. 2.Organization – The internal structure. 3.Voice – The personal voice of the author; it gives the sense of a real person speaking. 4.Word Choice – Precise, colorful, rich language. 5.Sentence Fluency – The writing has a rhythm; it flows. 6.Conventions – Mechanical correctness, including grammar and spelling.

9 Flexible Grouping Third grade students are flexibly grouped for small group instruction. Teachers pull small groups for word work, hands-on resources, targeted skill instruction, and comprehension strategy instruction.

If your child receives one of these slips, please sign it and return the slip to the appropriate Specials teacher. These slips can affect your child’s conduct grade. These slips are meant to communicate inappropriate behaviors and are similar to a folder/planner signature. If you have questions regarding a conduct slip that was sent home, please contact that Specials teacher. Specials Conduct Slips

14 Lunch Time Parents are ALWAYS welcome to eat lunch with their child at the designated table at the back of the cafe. We know that you cherish the visit with your child, so no friends will be permitted to sit with your child. In accordance with the State Law of Texas, parents who bring food for their child may not share with other children. Snacks This is really important to your child! Please send a healthy morning snack and a fresh, small bottle of water for your child daily.

15 Weekly Agenda/Planner Your child has received a weekly planner. Help your child learn to use it. Check it daily and initial that you have seen it EVERYDAY. It is never too early to develop organizational habits for success.

16 Birthday Celebrations Birthday celebrations will begin at 2:30 pm. Treats must be store-bought only. Please let your child’s teacher know you are bringing treats so we can schedule accordingly. Birthday party celebrations are welcomed and are a big part of your child’s school year experience.

17 Transportation Home Please inform the school office prior to 2:15 pm of any changes in your child’s mode of transportation home. Teachers will not check emails during instructional time, so please contact the office. The office may not be able to reach your child’s teacher with the message after 2:30 pm.
