3 Staying Safe When doing certain activities, it is important to keep our bodies safe from injury. injury – damage or harm done to a person Some of these activities include: Riding in a car Riding in a bus Riding a bike

4 Riding in a Car Everyone needs to wear a seat belt.
A seatbelt will help protect you if you are in an accident. It is also against the law to not wear your seatbelt. All doors should stay locked while the car is moving. Children should be in a car seat or booster seat if they are not big enough to ride without one. Up to 4 years old – car seat 4-8 years old – booster seat The safest place for a child is in the backseat.

7 Riding in a Bus What are some safety rules for riding on a bus?

Riding a Bicycle Always wear the right equipment. Helmet Elbow pads/knee pads Use a bicycle that is the right size for you. Don’t wear loose clothing and make sure your shoelaces are tied. Have an adult check the tires and the brakes before you ride. Wear bright clothes so people can see you clearly. *skateboard, dirt bike, scooter

9 Riding a Bicycle Stay alert. Don’t ride your bike at night.
Keep reflectors on your bike so it’s easy to see. Follow the rules of the road.

10 Rules of the Road Always ride on the right side of the road (in the same direction as traffic). Obey traffic laws, like signs and traffic lights. Ride predictably – in a straight line, not curvy. Look for things on the road that could cause you to fall off like trash, toys, or stones.
