3 DINO – Dec. 2005 12/6/2005 What can CANDDI do for us? CANDDI coordinates the efforts being made to create DDI marked up metadata for Canadian studies. CANDDI is to act as a clearing house and keep people informed about what is happening elsewhere

5 DINO – Dec. 2005 12/6/2005 What can CANDDI do for us? If we are successful, then we will all be able to contribute to the creation of a rich collection of metadata that is easily shareable amongst our community

6 DINO – Dec. 2005 12/6/2005 What is happening These types of collaborations are slow to develop – especially with…  no funding  no formal governance structure Things have been gently percolating since 2004  We have made progress  Lots more to do

9 DINO – Dec. 2005 12/6/2005 What happened next Discussions happened on-line and off-line Some expressions of interest were made Still some concerns being raised about fully understanding what DDI was People couldn’t – see it, touch it, play with it… How does it work with our data Needed something more concrete before we move forward…
