Title Name School

Topic Category Example: Plant Biology Problem Statement

Project Overview Type a brief summary (short and concise narrative) about your project. Why did this topic interest you? (4-5 bullets)

Variables - Controlled These are the things that were kept the same throughout your experiments Use Bullets, 3-4 words or up to 1 sentence Example: Amount of water Temperature Location of plants Fertilizer

Variables - Independent The one variable that you purposely change and test. Example: Independent Variable – Type of soil

Variables - Dependent The measure of change observed because of the independent variable. It is measureable and observable. Example: Dependent Variable – Growth

Hypothesis Your best educated guess regarding the solution to your question.

Materials The list of items you needed to complete your experiments. Example: 1 gallon of XYZ organic soil 1 cup of ABC fertilizer 1 teaspoon of growth hormone

Procedure List the steps, in order, used to complete the experiment. Number each step. Font size should be 20. It may take 3-4 slides to list the procedures. Do not use one procedure per slide.

Data Observations Add photos of your experiments. Include a caption for each photo. May take 1-3 slides Write a full sentence caption explaining the data viewed at the particular stage of the experiment.

Data Table Type of Soil Week 1Week 2Week 3Week 4 Organic Soil 5 cm7 cm7.5 cm7.6 cm Regular Soil 4.5 cm6 cm6.3 cm6.8 cm Plant Growth in Centimeters Should be central tendency and variance only – not all raw data is needed here

Data Graph(s) Plant Growth Height cm

Data Discussion This will be a brief summary / narrative of your observations, central tendencies and variance.

Conclusion Refer to you Conclusions Check List. The conclusion will take additional slides.

Works Cited Include all print and electronic sources. Use MLA guidelines. Separate primary and secondary sources (primary goes first).

Acknowledgements Recognize all individuals / organizations that helped you with your project.

Design Recommendations Font Size 28 or larger Times, Times New Roman, Calisto Do not bold words within text. Select one or two font colors that are uniform throughout.

Design Recommendations 1.Keep bulleted information as concise as possible. 2.Do not use transitions, effects, animation or sounds. 3.Use a background that is uniform throughout. 4.Keep your slides uncluttered. 5.Spelling and grammar definitely count.

Presentation Recommendations 1.Practice presenting – alone and in front of others. 2.Look at the computer for your powerpoint information; do not turn and read from the screen. 3.Add information that is not on the slide. 4.Be professional.

Final Project Details Your presentation may be between 20 – 25 slides. You will have up to 7 minutes to present your project. Present like a professional researcher. Your audience will include students and a panel of judges.
