14. Arts and culture This museum is located in Omdurman near Al-Mahdi's Tomb. It derived its name from the Khalifa Abdellah Al- Ta'aishi, the successor of Imam Mohamed Ahmed Al-Mahdi, who was officially residing at the very same place.

16. Food As for the south, a popular dish is a stew named (Kajaik), which is cooked of dried fish. It is added to the porridge, which is common throughout Sudan, (Aseeda) is made of sorghum. Sometimes natural margarine is added to the mixture. Northern Sudan is known for its simple cuisine, wheat flour has still remained the staple food for the people of the north who use it in making their main dish (Gourrassa).

Milk and diary products are a fundamental component to the majority of the people. In the east, the most popular dish is the (Moukhbaza), which is made of banana paste. Additional information  Type of government- Government of National Unity - the National Congress Party and Sudan People's Liberation Movement formed a power- sharing government under the 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement; the NCP, which came to power by military coup in 1989, is the majority partner; the agreement stipulated national elections in 2009, but these were subsequently rescheduled; elections took place in April 2010 and the NCP was elected as the majority party; due to the CPA stipulations, there is also an autonomous government in Southern Sudan where SPLM holds the majority of positions.
