2. Purpose of an Entrance Exam  designed to measure students’ skills and help colleges evaluate how ready students are for college-level work.

3. Purpose of Entrance Exams Pt. 2  Admission tests apply a common standard to everyone. This helps colleges evaluate and compare the preparation of students who go to different high schools.  All schools do not offer the same academic programs, learning environments or even expectations.  Colleges look at your test scores, along with your high school grades and courses, to see how well prepared you are for college-level work.

4. New SAT The College Board is launching a new SAT for the first time in 11 years. The revised SAT will launch in March of 2016 and the PSAT/NMSQT in October 2015. Due to this, 2017 graduates have options - you can take the current SAT, the new SAT, or the ACT.

5. Sections  SAT consists of three major sections:  Critical Reading  Mathematics  Writing  Each section receives a score on the scale of 200–800.  All scores are multiples of 10.  Total scores are calculated by adding up scores of the three sections
