Podcast is a great new word derived from “iPod” and “broadcast” Podcasts are usually multimedia presentations that happen in series or episodes using feeds like RSS feeds-handy little things, feeds. Feeds allow material to be updated frequently and distributed to a subscribed audience. Reduces work for the creators. Like your own little, personal, radio or tv series. Instructor has complete control over where and when to stop to expand or explain a concept It’s motivating and inspirational to watch kids teach other kids. Sometimes somebody does a better job explaining it than you do. Podcasts are wonderful for visually breaking down a concept into discrete steps that can be reviewed or replayed as often as wished. 8. Kids Can Construct Their Own Learning When They Podcast Students have an authentic audience-the Web- to share their learning. Students who struggle with writing have different opportunities to learn and share when they podcast. This is similar to blogging except it’s heavy on the auditory and visual, not just written. Since podcasting is not a skill and drill activity at all, it supports higher end of Bloom’s Taxonomy
