2 Expository Writing… Is used to explain, describe, or give information. Requires investigation of an idea, evaluation of evidence, and creating an argument or plan of action. Can be presented through comparison and contrast, definition, example, analyzing cause and effect, and direction.

11 Persuasive Writing… Also called Argument Writing Presents reasons and examples to create an argument in order to influence thoughts or actions Requires investigation of a topic AND establishing a position based on evidence from that research Warning: Persuasive Writing requires more research and the presentation of evidence than Expository Writing. Persuasive Writing is often longer in length.
