What role does education play in this career? Education plays a major role in being a lawyer. First of all, with out a lawyer’s degree you cannot get a job as a lawyer. To get into a law school, your judged by your college academic records and your LSAT (Law School Admission Test) results. Once graduated from law school, you are required to take another national exam before taking the next step to become a lawyer. (“Chapter 7: it’s never too late to be a lawyer.” Switching Careers. The Kiplinger Washington Editors, Inc.,2001.)

What specific skill set are necessary? Some specific skill’s that are necessary to being a lawyer would be to have good communication skills, to be able to argue and be very persuasive. Lawyers have the skill to be able to create and be able to maintain our civil justice system. (Marchetti, L. Gino, Jr. “Dispelling sterotypes of lawyer in today’s world.” (Presidents page).” Defense Counsel Journal)

What are the expectations on time during a typical workweek? Lawyer’s can work on a hourly basis. When your lawyer works on a hourly basis, whenever you are talking to your lawyer the clock is running. When lawyers work on hourly basis they get paid for the work that is actually done. But if the case drags on the bill starts to get high because of how many hours the lawyer will spend on the case. (“Winning Every Time: How to Use the Skills of a Lawyer in the Trials of Your Life.” Publishers Weekly)

What role do reading and writing play in that job? Lawyers are constantly referencing prior judicial decisions. They use the internet or books in the law library to research them. For lawyers, they usually keep there documents in electronic form, usually to keep them safe. But the most also have the same information in paper documents as a requirement. (Thompson, Kathryn A. “You have to share: the format of documents doesn’t change a lawyer’s duty to release them to a client.” ABA Journal)

How competitive is this job market for that job? The occupation of being a lawyer is starting to level off a lot. There aren’t as many opportunities as there have been in the past. But soon the job opportunities should be rising faster as those for physicians, veterinarians, and more. (“Chapter 7: it’s never too later to be a lawyer.” Switching Careers.)

What is the future of the industry? In the future, lawyer’s will always be needed in court. Unless there aren’t trials and defendants then lawyers will always be around.

Where are the locations of growth for this industry? There isn’t a specific location of growth for lawyers. This is because a lot of the time your lawyer isn’t even in the same state as you. Your lawyer can be communicated by phone or internet. But a lot of time many specific lawyers, such as criminal, will be located in a place where often crime is a big issue.

What are specific examples of companies, corporations, or individuals who are successful at this job? A criminal lawyer working with a women who was convicted of a crime that she did not commit. Abbe Smith was interseted in criminal defense when she met Patsy Jarrett, a women who was convicted of murder but wasn’t guilty. For 20 years Smith worked on Jarret’s case and proved to everyone that she had not committed the crime that she was convicted to. (Kennedy, Becky. “Smith, Abbe.
