-An example of a Danish recycling site in Horsens In Denmark there are around 500 recycle sites, all working close together to improve their skills to reuse and treat the waste from household and from the industry. The numbers here is from the local recycle site in Horsens witch is a normal size recycle site. They treat 45000 ton of waste every year witch again has been split up in to 3 categories Recycle 80% District heating 13% Landfill 7% Grant Agreement Reference Number: LLP-ERA-IP-2011-LT-0580

-An example of trash being used for second-hand Second hand The council has started an employment project, where they will try to get unemployed citizen back on the labor marked. The plan is that they will run, and work in a recycle store where all the good things from the containers witch contains clothing, toy and different kind of furniture’s. These things will be sold after the products have been cleaned. The store is called “Art and recycle”. Grant Agreement Reference Number: LLP-ERA-IP-2011-LT-0580

-An example of trash used for district heating The trash witch can not be reused or recycled will be used at the local district heating plant Polystyren Books with hard covers Tires Quilts Light bulbs (not light saving bulbs) Wicker furniture Toys (not electric) Bitumen tag Wallpaper Carpets Window and door frames Grant Agreement Reference Number: LLP-ERA-IP-2011-LT-0580

-An example of trash ending up on a landfill In Denmark we are focusing on reducing the amount of landfill waste. The main problem with the landfill waste is that no company's are ready to treat and reuse some waste, mainly because a mixture of materials witch are too expensive for the company's to separate, but the recycling sites and the company`s are working close together to find new solutions for using the waste

Grant Agreement Reference Number: LLP-ERA-IP-2011-LT-0580 -An example how people can recycle next to their door The green recycling stations are placed nearby supermarkets, housing associations and other places where there are many people. On these stations it’s possible to deliver -Paper -Glass -Bottles -Batteries There are around 115 green spots / recycling stations in the council.

-Issues concerning recycling in Denmark In Denmark we have buy-throw away mentality. We buy a lot of things such as electronics. And as soon as there are a newer product on the market we throw the old away A big problem is our big use of packing's. It creates enormous volumes of trash and creates a need for recycling sites We have a serious high % of food waste. The food producer's makes a early expire date, the result is that the customers throw away good food. Some of the very big supermarkets have offers of 10 pieces for a price. And the customer's buys more than they need and they end op throwing it out Its difficult to get all of the Danish people to sort their waste properly. And it creates a problem for the recycling sites, because they cant recycle as they wish to without sorting it all after again. Grant Agreement Reference Number: LLP-ERA-IP-2011-LT-0580

-A proposal to solve some of those problems People needs to change their way of thinking. In many schools the kids are learning about recycling and how to protect the environment It’s a very important that people start thinking about tomorrow and the future for the kids. If we don’t care and just looks for things getting worse. We might end up without a world. If the government in Denmark would put taxes on packaging and make restrictions on how much packaging is all right compared to the amount of the product. Maybe we should change the quality of our products and change the Danish system, where we have 2 years of warranty to example 4 years or more. It could maybe change our buy-throw away mentality.
