It will be called Cartago Nova and its capture will be key in taking possession of the rest of Hispania. S. After the Muslim arrival and their conquest, it will become a Muslim city with a mosque, integrated in the Tudmir cora, changing its name to Medina de Qartyanna al-Halfa. S. XIII, XIV and XV  It was reconquered and christianized, being characterized by its small population due to the epidemics caused by the many diseases coming from the dry lagoon.
