3 What is Dual Credit? The Dual Credit Program is a way to get college credit while still in high school – Credits are highly transferable, but students are encouraged to contact institutions to verify they will transfer – Cost per credit hour is cheaper than as an undergraduate enrollee ($85/hr in 2014) – Enrollment is completed through the OSS 3

4 What is Dual Credit? 4 College Credit Options Option 1Option 2Option 3 Concordia University, Nebraska (CUNE) Placement Test (CLEP, etc.) AP Spanish Test Spanish 3 = Span 101 3 hrs. for $255 CLEP = $80 (2014)Cost = $91 (2015) Spanish 4 = Span 102 3 hrs. for $255 Take college Spanish course you tested into ($300/hr. or more) 3 to 4 hrs. college credit with score of 3 or better 6 hrs. = $510 Retro credits possible after passing first college class Retro credits possible depending on placement in Spanish program

5 Selected Course Objectives The student will be able to: – Demonstrate progress in the five key areas of any world language: speaking, reading, writing, listening, and cultural knowledge – Use Spanish to converse about everyday situations involving life at school, home, work, at a hospital, on vacation, etc. 5

6 Grading Procedure Grading Scale: School-wide scale Grading Categories / Weights: 40% = unit tests and verb quizzes 15% = vocabulary quizzes 15% = unit projects (real-life communication) 15% = homework 15% = semester exam 6

7 Student Expectations The student is expected to: – Complete work on time – Complete missing / make-up work promptly – Pass vocabulary quizzes by 8 am of test day! – Study vocabulary and grammar concepts on a regular basis to develop skill and proficiency (Quizlet, StudySpanish, etc.) – Seek help immediately if questions arise 7
