SAM 2003 The Student Experience

Initial Setup 1.Ensure you are connected to the Internet. 2.Launch IE (v. 5.0 or later). 3.Enter http://sam2003.course.com or the address provided by your instructor to visit the SAM 2003 login page. 4.Alternately, double-click the SAM 2003 icon on your desktop if IE is your default browser.

Login for first-time users...... with no username/password: Click the new user button. This will open the institution key screen.... who have a username/password: Enter your username and password in the appropriate fields. Click the login button.

1. If your institution has purchased the key code version of SAM 2003, users enter an Institution Key here. 2. Once you have entered the institution key, SAM will ask you to verify that you have selected the correct institution key for your institution. Select “OK” if this is correct.

If your institution has purchased the key code version of SAM 2003, users enter a key code here. If your institution purchased a site license version of SAM 2003, no key code is necessary.

The username must be 6–50 characters. Keep in mind that the username cannot be modified once it is established. *passwordThe password must be 6–50 alphanumeric characters. Choose a password that is easily remembered, but cannot be guessed easily. aliasThe alias must be 6-20 characters. An alias is a name under which your instructor can choose to post exam results. Choose an alias you recognize easily but that others cannot. id#Enter your student ID number. phoneEnter your phone number. *emailEnter your email address. User Profile Screen * denotes required field Enter required information and choose Save.

Student selects “Sections” button. The SAM 2003 TERMS and CONDITIONS will display. Read them fully, and then click the Agree button to accept the terms and conditions and continue. If the agreement is not accepted, SAM 2003 automatically exits.

If you need to change your user information for any reason, choose Profile from the left navigation menu. Once you have created your username, you will not be able to change it. Other information can be changed at any time.

Change your user information as necessary and choose Save or Cancel to return to the previous screen. *Keep in mind that usernames cannot be altered once established

In order to take an exam you must be enrolled in a section. SAM 2003 may be set up so that your instructor assigns you to a section, or you may be able to join a section on your own. First, click sections on the navigation bar to open the sections screen. Any sections you have joined or been assigned to will display in the choose section box. Click the join section button. This will open the join section screen

1. To join a section, select it in the candidates box. Be sure to select the correct section. 2. When your section is highlighted, click the > button. Your selection will appear in this sections box. 3. Click Save.

Congratulations! You have now successfully logged into SAM 2003 and joined a section. You may now complete any assignments you have available from the “assignments” screen. In the future, you can log in to SAM 2003 using your username and password which you set up. You will not need the student keycode again, but you should keep any CD you may have in case you wish to install SAM 2003 on another computer.
