6 How did we get here?  Improvements in the quality of factories by 1900.  Workers are protected through laws and unions  Standard of living is raised.  Governments see the need for a “LITERATE WORKFORCE”  Establish public education  Most teachers not trained well, but it is a start.  High schools are created – teaching Latin, Greek, Mathematics and…. HISTORY!

7 Mass Production  Production of a large number of products, within a short amount of time using time saving and effective techniques.  Must have the following:  1.) Assembly Line  2.) Interchangeable Parts  3.) Power-driven machines

8 The ASSEMBLY LINE  Workers add parts to a product as it moves along a conveyor belt.  From one worker to the next.  Henry Ford
