3 STATUS QUO The Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) mandated the Department of Science and Technology (DST) to lead technology development and transfer in SA under UNFCCC South Africa participates in the CTCN Advisory Board Meetings as observers through the Department of Science and Technology (DST) DST nominated as NDE in January 2014 3

9 FUTURE PLANNING Currently setting up the structure of NDE Additional Budget Allocated Get commitment from identified key government departments, private sector and other institutions Establish Steering Committee/Advisory Council Terms of Reference developed and informed by the functions of the NDE 9

10 FUTURE PLANNING cont. Identify Network Organisations Three national workshop, engage with relevant stakeholders Develop guidelines on interpretation and evaluation of submissions Integrate climate change related legislation and programmes Two calls per annum for proposals envisaged 10
