4 Scientific Inquiry Apply the steps of the Scientific Method The animals that live in Martin’s pond are dying as the pH levels are in the acidic range. However the animals that live in Potter’s pond are fine and healthy. 1. Both ponds are only 1 mile apart from each other. 2. They receive the same rain fall 3. They both are same size in surface area.

5 Scientific Inquiry Apply the steps of the Scientific Method 1. What question can you test by doing an experiment? 2.What hypothesis can you come up with? 3. What data can you collect to support your hypothesis?

28 The Universe The Big Bang Theory – A theory that says the universe began from an extremely hot and dense state about 13.6 billion years ago. – The universe has been expanding ever since.

29 How will the Universe end? 2. An expanding universe- The universe is expanding and it’s speeding up. Eventually it will over come the force of gravity and it will not contract back into a small point of hot energy and matter. Over trillions of years the universe will grow cold and die out.
