4 iPad Guidelines Secure your iPad when not in use (lock in a locker) Keep liquids away from the device During inclement weather, keep your iPad dry (plastic bag in backpack) Do not remove your iPad label ($5 replacement fee) Bring your iPad to school fully charged every day See the library media specialist if you experience problems with your device Report damage to your device immediately to the library media specialist The school is carrying insurance on your iPad. There will be a $50 deductible for repairs if you do not care for your iPad.

5 iPad Restrictions Do not change your iPad name  Dedham reviews a daily report on iPad names  iPads incorrectly on the report indicate a name has been changed  Dedham tracks serial numbers Do not remove profiles  Dedham reviews a daily report on iPad profiles  iPads not checking in:  Students are not a school  Student have deleted profiles Only Lightspeed browser permitted Dedham reviews the apps installed on iPads Only Dedham approved apps permitted (teacher approved)

6 Review and Collect Contracts / Fees Review 1:1 iPad Student Contracts  Students to sign both copies  Collect the Student copy  Students to take Parent Copy home Collect parent-signed form Collect $100 technology fees

7 Set a Passcode 1. At the Passcode Requirement box, tap Continue 2. Provide a new Passcode consisting of at least six characters 3. Reenter the new passcode and tap Save 4. Be sure to remember your passcode!

9 Choose a Network Tap Settings Tap Wi-Fi under Settings and tap OFF to turn ON Tap DPS-Student Password:  DPS Student Access

10 Demonstrate Self-Service Installs 1. Tap the Self Service app 2. Tap an app 3. At the Info box for your app, tap Install 4. At the App Installation box, tap Install

11 Demonstrate the Self-Service Installs (cont.) 6. Enter your Apple ID Password and tap OK 7. At the Info window tap Install 8. At the App Installation window tap Install 9. Enter your Apple ID Password and tap OK

12 Install Lightspeed Login to Lightspeed using your network username and password If prompted to supply a School ID use the following: 69577146

13 Access iCloud 1. Tap the Settings app on your Home screen, and then in the list on the left tap iCloud 2. Login to iCloud using your Apple ID (email address) and Password, and then tap Sign In. 3. At the iCloud Terms window scroll to the bottom of the iCloud Terms & Conditions, and then tap Agree

14 Access iCloud (cont.) 4. At Terms of Service, tap Agree 5. At the Allow iCloud to Use the Loction of Your iPad box, tap OK 6. At the Find My IPad box, choose Allow 7. Under the iCloud section, check to be sure “Find My iPad” has been turned ON

15 Activate iCloud Backup 1. Under Settings, iCloud, check the status of iCloud Backup. If it indicates Off, tap the Off button and continue with the following steps to turn it on 2. At Start iCloud Backup, tap OK 3. The iCloud Backup indicator will now reflect ON 4. Tap Backup Now

16 Download and Delete an App 1. Locate an app in the Self Service to download and then tap the FREE button 2. Tap the INSTALL APP button 3. An indicator will appear when the app is Loading 4. To delete an app: Press and hold the app Tap the “X” Press the Home button—stop jiggle Note: Stock apps cannot be deleted 5. To continue to delete an app, tap Delete at the confirmation box

17 Student-Deleted Self-Service Apps Tap the App Store icon Tap the Purchased button on the bottom right of the iPad Locate the desired iPad App and re-install by tapping the cloud-like icon

18 Closing an App on the Dock To close an app on the dock: Double tap the Home button Tap and hold an app Tap red “-” to close the app To stop the jiggle – tap the Home button

19 Keyboard Basics Tap the Notes app Tap the new note to open the keyboard  Tap bottom right key to close keyboard  Use left ridges to undock/split Press and hold vowels to view accents

20 Spotlight Search Used to quickly find and open an app Swipe far left – spotlight search  Type in the name of an app (ex. Notes)  Tap the app to open

21 Home Screens Swipe left and right to view home screens Light indicator to identify different home screens

22 Apps Store To search for apps: 1) Use the search bar 2) Set the filters 3) Download FREE app 1) 2) 3)

23 Add an Email Account Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and then tap Add Account…

24 Add an Email Account (cont.) Tap Microsoft Exchange Complete the Exchange screen  Email: firstname.lastname@student.dedham.k12.ma.us  Domain: leave blank  Username: firstname.lastname@student.dedham.k12.ma.us  Description: Dedham Tap Next

25 Add an Email Account (cont.) Once verified, complete the Exchange dialog box:  Server: m.google.com Tap Next Checkmarks will appear if created correctly Tap Save The Dedham account has been created

26 Access Email To access your email, tap the Mail app Use the directional arrows to navigate to your inbox or to your mailbox

27 Screen Shot To take a screen shot  Press the Sleep/Capture button and the Home button simultaneously Access your screen shots from the Photos icon  Camera Roll

28 Install Dropbox  Tap the Self Service app  Tap the Dropbox app  Install the app Start the Dropbox process  Tap the Dropbox app  Press Start at the “Welcome to Dropbox!” Window Create a free account  Click “Create a free account” Complete the dialog box Tap “Create free account”

29 Install Dropbox (cont.) Tap “I Agree” to the terms At Camera Upload tap Next At Camera Upload tap Authorize Click OK to use your current location Check Settings, Location Services to turn Dropbox ON

30 Install Dropbox (cont.) Tap Enable at the Camera Upload box Tap the icons within Dropbox to navigate the site Click Settings for further Dropbox info Shared folders may be created on the Dropbox website at: www.dropbox.com
