with Microsoft Excel 2007 Comprehensive 1e© 2008 Pearson Prentice Hall3 Create a Data Table Changing the values in cells to see how they affect the outcome of formulas on the worksheet is called What-if analysis. A data table is a range of cells that shows how changing certain values in your formulas affects the formulas’ results.

7

10
with Microsoft Excel 2007 Comprehensive 1e© 2008 Pearson Prentice Hall10 Use Solver With Solver you can find an optimal value for a cell on a worksheet. –Useful for finding minimums or maximums when several variables are involved An add-in is a supplemental program that adds custom commands or features. Constraints are the restrictions that limit the values that will change with the Solver.
11
with Microsoft Excel 2007 Comprehensive 1e© 2008 Pearson Prentice Hall11 Use Solver In the Solver Parameters dialog box, the active cell is the Set Target Cell box. The target cell is the cell that contains the goal to be achieved. The Answer Report lists the target cell and the adjustable cells with their original value and the value of the results.

The Document Properties panel has boxes for attaching information to the document that could be useful for storing and retrieving files. Keywords are used by programs that search through documents.
14

Information Rights Management (IRM) is a formal system that designates who can read or edit a file. Prepare a Document for Distribution
15
with Microsoft Excel 2007 Comprehensive 1e© 2008 Pearson Prentice Hall15 Portable Document Format (PDF), created by Adobe, is the most popular fixed-layout format. XML Paper Specifications (XPS) is Microsoft’s version of a fixed-layout format in Office 2007. Prepare a Document for Distribution
16
with Microsoft Excel 2007 Comprehensive 1e© 2008 Pearson Prentice Hall16 The Document Inspector can be used to clear the contents from several areas where personal or private information could be found. Automatically updated properties are set by the operating system and cannot be removed. A final file is a read-only file and can be viewed but not changed. Prepare a Document for Distribution

with Microsoft Excel 2007 Comprehensive 1e© 2008 Pearson Prentice Hall18 Use XML to Enhance Security File extensions are part of a filename that indicate which program can read or edit the file. Examples are: –ZIP –JPG Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a set of rules used to create a language. –Can be read using a text editor once unzipped

Start tags mark the beginning of data. End tags mark the end of data. A pair of tags enclosed within another pair of tags is called a parent-child relationship. Rules are in a file called a schema.
