2 What can we found in the Desert Area?
Although there is little vegetation cover, animals and human activities on the surface of desert, some deserts contains many valuable resources. Oil is one of the most important resources in industry and economic development. It is required in power generation, engines fuel and manufacturing sector. The extraction of oil has become an important issue among the world.

3 What is Middle East? Middle East is located in the area between Asia, Europe and Africa. Most of the area is between 15°N to 40°N. Except Israel, most of the countries Muslim. The climate characteristics of the Middle East are hot and dry. The mean annual temperature is about 20-30℃ Most of the area has less than 200mm rainfall per year. Although it was one of the earliest agricultural area in the World, there is serious desertification and salinisation problem. Therefore, most of the area in Middle East is not suitable for farming and people’s living.

4 Middle East, the major oil reserve in the World
Proved crude oil reserve in 2003 About 2/3 of the world crude oil is found in the middle east, one of the major desert area in the world. The oil reserve in the Middle East was found since 1930s. Until now, most of the high quality crude oil is found in the area. It can satisfy our consumption for about years.

The Middle East also dominates world production of oil. It is the major producer and exporter of crude oil in the world market.

6 How does non-renewable resource benefits Middle East?

7 The oil exporting countries in Middle East set up the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries(OPEC). This helps the Middle East Countries gain importance in the international society. The Oil Crises in the 1973 and 1979 are the most obvious symbols of the Middle East Muslim Countries power.

8 Does the non-renewable resource brings disaster to Middle East?
Most of the income from selling non-renewable resource was flowed to the nobles or rich people in the country. The income gap was widen due to the corruption, extraction of resources by them. The industrialization in Middle East is not rapid. There are little industries developed in the area. Middle East lacks economic diversity.

9 The natural environment was greatly affected
The natural environment was greatly affected. As the oil production will burn large amount of crude oil, the carbon dioxide in the air increase. The mean annual temperature of the Middle East is increasing. This is also one of the region suffering from serious global warming.

10 What will the Middle East Countries do?
The Middle East Countries are developing their tourism.For example, Dubai of United Arabic Emirates is well-known because of its development project. The Middle East Countries invest foreign companies to strengthen their economic structure. They also welcome foreign investors to invest in their countries. Dubai

11 Does the Middle East Countries have sustainable development?
Obviously, the past development in the Middle East is not sustainable and beneficial to all citizens. That was not equal to the society, not friendly to the environment, and not a health economy. However, can the Middle East Countries succeed in achieving sustainable development? Only History would know.
