6 The Role of the Graduate School  Upholds general standards of graduate admissions, scholarship and graduation  Develops and coordinates procedures to implement Graduate Council policies  Aids graduate programs at the department and college levels with education, research, recruitment and retention  Certifies students for graduation and conferral of degrees  Maintains GIMS (Graduate Information Management System) interactive database, website, digital filing system and listservs for graduate administrators, faculty, staff and students  Upholds general standards of graduate admissions, scholarship and graduation  Develops and coordinates procedures to implement Graduate Council policies  Aids graduate programs at the department and college levels with education, research, recruitment and retention  Certifies students for graduation and conferral of degrees  Maintains GIMS (Graduate Information Management System) interactive database, website, digital filing system and listservs for graduate administrators, faculty, staff and students

10 Doctoral Mentoring Awards Annual award given to five graduate faculty members. Encourages and rewards excellence, innovation and effectiveness in mentoring. Doctoral and Master of Fine Arts mentors are eligible Award: $3,000 for the faculty member, plus $1,000 to support his/her students.
