5 Activities for American Heritage Strand The students will write a narrative Native American History in Ohio and the U.S. The students will discuss the reasons for slavery in America and list the reasons why the north wanted to abolish it and why the south wanted to keep it. They will then discuss what might have happened had slavery not been abolished.

6 American Heritage Activities (continued) The students will have in in-class debate about the need for the Revolutionary War using arguments from the past. The students will be able to plot important battles in the Civil War on a map The students will write their opinion what might have happened to Europe had the attack on Pearl Harbor not happened.

9 Activities for People In Societies The students will write an essay about slave’s contribution to a young nation’s economy The students will discuss in class the pros and cons of bilingual education The students will make a timeline of the civil rights movement and the fight for freedom The students will do various applications on the class computer involving Social Studies Software.

13 Activities for World Interactions The students will put together a collage of current event reports about the war in Afghanistan and provide a short narrative. The students will get in groups and discuss the pros and cons of a war with Iraq The students will discuss the current events in Russia regarding complaints from Chechen citizens and civil rights.

18 Activities for Decision Making and Resources The students will pair up and draw up a monthly budget for their household for with limited resources. The students will prepare documentation needed in order to obtain a mortgage. The students will be given a chance to explain how they think fluctuating oil prices affect the American Economy. Maximum two-page paper.
