3 Purpose of the trip An opportunity for students to get to know each other informally and bond as an IB cohort. The creation of an ‘IB community’ and camaraderie amongst the students will benefit the students on return to DCS. An opportunity to participate in a range of ‘new’ activities that will develop new skills and allow for new experiences. An opportunity for introduction to the IB Diploma Programme Theory of Knowledge and CAS (Creativity, Action, and Service) components An opportunity to engage in CAS & TOK related activities in context. An opportunity to gain independence and develop relationships whilst spending time away from home with friends and staff members.

10 Departure procedure: Passports to form tutors on Wednesday 10 th September. Drop off time at school – 8:00 a.m. on Monday 15 th September. Pudong flight departs at 11:10 a.m. – ETA in Chifeng is 3:10 p.m.. An orderly and calm departure from DCS will allow for all seventy-seven people to get on their travels without any problems.

11 Picking up procedure Please arrange for your child to be picked up from DCS at 9.00 p.m. on Friday 19 th September. Chifeng return flight departs 3:55 p.m. – ETA in Shanghai Pudong is 8:05 p.m. We will make contact if there is any huge delay.

14 Electronics No laptops / game consoles to be brought on China Week. Cell phones / mp3 devices are permitted, but with the knowledge that these will have limited use. Items will be confiscated if rules are not followed.

17 Visa information If you have not already done so please forward a copy of the main photo page and visa page from your child’s passport and the policy number and name of the provider of their medical insurance to: ronnie.xiang@dulwich-shanghai.cn (Year 7 to Year 12) If your child’s passport is currently at the visa office, you will need to acquire a stamped receipt. The receipt will have been issued on submission of the passport to the Exit & Entry Bureau (visa office). By submitting 1 passport sized photo, and obtaining a stamp on this receipt at “Window No. 4” of the Exit & Entry Bureau, the receipt can then be used to travel within China.
